Under the tree (Heath and Lizzie)

Heath was waiting underneath an apple tree, one of the only plants in the area that still gave fruit. Unfortunately for the starving humans, this tree gave fruit at the command of demons and was almost like the tree which had caused the sin of man in the first place. But for a demon like Heath it was nothing but tasty food. So he was munching happily on a fresh apple by the roadside while he waited for her to show up.

He'd been thinking about her again. Both versions of her if he was honest. And to be fair he was beginning to like this new version of her but he was still unable to look at her without remembering exactly what her older self had done to him. What she had put him through. What she had driven him to.

Heath crushed the apple in his hand before throwing it away.

Elizabeth walked happily through the streets of her hometown, she was so glad to be outside and the weather was nice, as if often was now, after all without much water the air was dry and arid and it didn't often rain yet somehow some plants still managed to live and grow in some areas. She had been asked to come here by Heath, it has been a while since she saw him, and she wondered if she was going to find him in a good mood or a bad mood.

Biting her lip she peered around and saw, quite oddly, a tree with fruit on, she walked over to it and saw that the person underneath it was indeed Heath, her heart fluttered a little bit, after their last meeting she had thought that he would be in a good mood, but, only time would be able to tell.

With that she shook the thought from her mind and smiled gently, waving at him as she approached in her cut off denim shorts and strap tshirt, her hair was tied back and it allowed her gentle pale face to catch some light of the sun from under the branches of the tree;

"Heath!" she called out happily as she came to stand in front of him.

Heath had known that Elizabeth was coming closer even as he was lost in his memories. It was a defence mechanism that demons had, it allowed them to sense when someone was around them. Something of a survival instinct in a place where almost every other demon would love nothing more than to sink their teeth into you when you fell asleep.

When he saw her though he smiled a little bit, a faint smile. Even though he still could not just see past the actions of her past self, he could see that this version of her at least wanted to make him happy. And the strange feeling he got whenever he looked at her suggested she might be able to do so,

"Hello there Elizabeth." he greeted her, taking another apple from the tree, "You seem to be in good spirits. Have I brightened your day or something?"

Elizabeth smiled happily when Heath looked at her, she was oh so very happy to be able to see him again and she wondered if it was really that transparent that it was him that was making her feel like this, either way she didn't really mind, it was the truth after all and she was certain that he wasn't going to mind being the center of her happiness...but then again, he was a demon, he might not like that.

Blushing a little bit, Elizabeth shook her head and laughed a little; "Well I was looking forward to seeing you again Heath, it has been a while after all, and it's a nice day outside just the type of weather that I like." she said with a small smile on her lips as she looked up through the boughs of the tree into the sunny sky.

Realising that she was being a little bit rude Elizabeth focused her attention on Heath once more, head tilted to one side she thought that he looked a little bit distracted today but didn't want to seem rude in asking why;

"How have you been Heath?" she asked, concerned.

Heath watched with a small amount of amusement as Elizabeth blushed to herself. It might as well have been an answer all on it's own. She did seem to enjoy his company and, from what he could gather from the odd blushes she would have when around him, she might like more than his company. For some reason this idea made him feel happier than before and he smiled,

"It has been a bit of a while." he admitted before looking out at the land around them. The day was nice and warm, bright and yet not too dry. It was what could be considered the perfect British summers day. If it weren't for all the dead people and demons of course. He smirked faintly and took another bite out of the apple, "It is a lovely day. I don't like it when it gets all dry in the air... too much like down below."

When she asked how he had been, Heath looked down at the ground for a moment. Telling her the truth would be a little bit too problematic,

"I've been alright. Just wandering around trying to find apple trees." he paused, "By the way, never eat apples again. They're cursed by demons now."

Elizabeth happily nodded her head, she was glad that Heath seemed to agree with her when it came to the weather, it was nice to see that they might have something else in common, although she had oddly began to feel more and more attatched to the Demon she scolded herself every time that she did so, he was a demon after all, and he probably didn't want anyone to be able to hurt him again, let alone her...again.

"What is it like down there?" she asked with a morbid curiosity "I always wondered, but, I've never had anyone to ask before, most demons try to kill you before you have the chance to ask them their name, let alone get into a deep conversation with them about their home."

With a little smile Elizabeth looked up startled at the apples and nodded her head with her wide eyes, she was more than glad that Heath had decided to give her that little tip off, she was just thinking about how much she would fancy an apple;

"Thanks for telling me Heath, I was just thinking that I wanted to try one of those, I know now that I'll leave them alone, I'll be sure to tell the others not to eat them either." she smiled gently "There are a lot more people around me now, some of them are staying in my house now, it's so nice to have more company."
